Career Opportunities For Graduates From Diploma Of Tax Management
Padang- FE UNP. This odd semester of the academic year 2016-2017 is a new milestone for the Faculty of Economics, Universitas NegeriPadang. This is due to grand launching as well as the first admission ofthe first batch students for Diplome Program in Tax ManagementThe opening of the Diplome program in Tax Management is one of the steps of the Faculty of Economics in responding to promising opportunities offered to tax specialists that exist in the current job market .
As often described in various media, Indonesia is still suffering from a shortage of tax specialists. This is particularly worsen since the Directorat General of Taxationtightened the taxation laws and the increasing number of tax scandals in various companies in Indonesia. As a response, numerous companies and entrepreneurs actively seek prospective employees with mastery in taxation. Thus,this creates a promising career opportunities in the field of taxation.
The similar opportunities also widely available for tax officials in state agencies. As an illustration, the number of tax officials in 2015 was only 32,000, which was unbalanced compared to28 million taxpayers in Indonesia. The ratio was 1 tax official to serve 875 taxpayers.
Importantly, the Indonesian government policy in 2016 to grant tax amnesty to taxpayers provides the opportunity for employers to fix the tax issues faced by their businesses. This is surelyincrease the demandfor tax experts in the labor market.
For graduates who do not aim to work as tax officials or tax staff, there is an opportunity to fill the positions for tax consultants. To date, only 3,000 tax consultants registered at the Directorate General of Taxationin 2016.
As such, the opening of the DiplomeProgram in Tax Management is a very apt decision from the Faculty of Economics, UniversiatsNegeri Padang. This Diplome Program offers excellent job opportunities for its future graduates. In addition, as a diplome program, the curriculum will be more focused on developing vocational skills so that it will produces graduateswith technical skills and mastery who are ready to enter the competitive labor market in the near future.
